The short story of this album is that we recorded it in the late fall of 2017 in a tiny attic studio in Elizabeth LaPrelle's house in Rural Retreat, VA. It has Channing’s original songs. It has Brian's original songs. It has one traditional camp meeting song that we learned from New Hope Harmony, a group which Elizabeth's uncle Jon Newlin sang with many years before. Elizabeth LaPrelle and her mother Sandy LaPrelle also sing on this song and Elizabeth sings on several tracks throughout the album. The album is full of songs of longing for home, of recognizing the end of life and love, and of hoping for more of both.

Before we recorded the album, Channing and Brian went on tour with Earth Person all around the Northeast and we learned each others’ songs and made new arrangements of them. We played mostly house shows and we drove around in an old Jeep and talked a lot and listened to moody, autumnal music. In our merch, Channing sold original artwork and Brian sold dried flower earrings. We made a deal to take a cold plunge whenever we got the chance - Lake Ontario was by far the coldest. And then Channing and Brian drove down to Elizabeth’s house in Virginia to record some of these new songs, inviting Elizabeth into the project to sing a lot of the third harmony parts and offer moral support. The album got stalled because of weird technical issues, but here it finally is six years later! Enjoy!

Channing Showalter, Brian Dolphin, and Elizabeth LaPrelle are also in the band Doran with Annie Schermer.
